COLERAIN – Rebecca Flanagan Cullins Brown, age 81, of Hwy 42, passed away on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, North Carolina.

Mrs. Brown was born on April 9, 1940 to Albert Benjamin Flanagan, Sr. and Ethel Brown Flanagan in Halifax County, North Carolina. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Rebecca retired from Perdue Hatchery as a supervisor. She was a devoted member of Mars Hill Baptist Church. She loved her family and enjoyed cooking for them. She liked to work in her flower garden, making quilts, knitting from time to time, and her Friday afternoon hair appointments. One of her favorite things to do other than eating a nice meal was spending time at the river house. Rebecca was loved by many and will be deeply missed.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 32 years, Linwood “Pete” Cullins; a daughter, Katherine Smith; grandson, Brad Cullins; and her cat, Troubles.

Left to cherish Rebecca’s memory is her husband, Lonnie; son, Linwood Keith (Pam) Cullins of Como; daughter, Mary Lynn (Terry) Futrelle of Como; step son, Dennis (Marg) Brown of Grayslake, IL; brother, A. B. (Ruth Ann) Flanagan of Murfreesboro, NC; seven grandchildren; Shannon Lassiter, William (Cheryl) Outland, Jr., Heather (Brad) Lassiter, Jason (Keri) Futrelle, Melissa (Don) Ferguson, Mary Catherine (Ryan) Keller, Betsy (Jason) McKay; a granddaughter-in-law, Phyllis Cullins; eighteen great grandchildren; Greg, Storie, Taylor, Brian, Hannah, Gabrielle, Haley, Brianna, Kaitlyn, Finton, Becca, Keagan, Bentley, Katie, Grayson, Kendyl, Olivia, and Maggie, and one great great grandson, Ian; her beloved cat, Buster Brown; along with numerous extended family and friends.

The family will receive friends at the home at any time.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 24, 2021 at 1 p.m. at the Buckhorn Baptist Church Cemetery, Como, NC, with Rev. Al Hughson officiating.
