EURE, NC – Fay June Behrends, 79, of Corner High Road, died Friday, June 11, 2021 in Vidant Inpatient Hospice, Greenville.

Mrs. Behrends was born in Pennsylvania. A retired waitress, she was a member of Eure Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her adopted parents, James and Rose Lee; husband, Robert Arthur Behrends, III; a son, Stephen D. Behrends (Lisa, also deceased); a step-son, David Sheppard; two sisters, Cindy Drury and Shelley Lawson; and two brothers, Jimmy and Jackie Lee.

Surviving are her children, Diane L. Behrends (Scot) of Midland Park, NJ, and John Behrends (Tonya) of Conway; two step-children, Lorraine M. Johnson of Kernersville, and Robert Sheppard (Debra) of Katy, Texas; a sister, Rose Marie Winfield of Hopatcong, NJ; six grandchildren, Ashley R. Havel, Steven D. Havel, Jr. (Ashley), Dustin W. Harrell, Tayla F. Behrends, Harlee D. Behrends, and Zackery S. Behrends; three great-grandchildren, Steven D. Havel, III, Jaxson W. Havel, and Bryson R. Havel; three step-grandchildren, Christa M. Johnson, Sara Sheppard, and Bobby Sheppard, and other extended family in Pennsylvania.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 15 at 11:00 a.m. in Eure Baptist Church and will be conducted by pastor, The Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family Monday, June 14 from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, Gatesville, or in the church social hall immediately following the service.
