CONWAY – Mary Lewter Flythe Garris, 74, of Zion Church Road, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, April 25, 2021, after a brief battle with cancer. She was born on October 13, 1946 to the late Junius E. Flythe and Gwendolyn Matrin Flythe.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Neil Garris and wife Kelli; two grandchildren, Morgan Rose and husband Willie, and Justin Garris, all of Conway; and her nephew, Eric Ogburn of Seattle, Washington; plus, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Mary Lewter was preceded in death by the love of her life and husband of 52 years, William Mack Garris; her parents, Junius & Gwendolyn Flythe; her sister, Dorothy Ogburn; and her brother, J. E. Flythe.

Mary Lewter worked by William’s side at their business, Garris Sales & Service, for many years and continued after his death. When not at work, she enjoyed doing yard work, playing the piano, shopping, playing cards, and going out to eat with her friends.

She had a beautiful voice and got great enjoyment from singing with the church choir and playing the piano, when needed, at Conway United Methodist Church where she had been a lifetime member. She loved her family unconditionally and was always there for them, no matter what. She never met a stranger and will be remembered for her smile and her laugh!
