AHOSKIE, NC – Gene Parker Vinson, age 79, died peacefully on April 1, 202l at his home in Ahoskie, North Carolina.

Born on September 23, 1941, to Edith Parker Vinson and Melvin Howell Vinson, Sr., he grew up in Murfreesboro, North Carolina. He attended Chowan (College) University and Hardbarger Business College.

Gene enjoyed the outdoors and his work in the agribusiness field. He had retired from Ahoskie Fertilizer Company where he spent over thirty years with three generations of the Stuart Pierce Family. He loved the beach and traveling, especially to coastal areas.

Along with his parents, Gene was preceded in death by an infant son and a niece, Renee Vinson Gamer.

Loved by and very devoted to his family, Gene is survived by his wife of 57 years, Henrietta Bethea Vinson; his son, Parker Howell Vinson of Raleigh, North Carolina; his brother, Melvin H. Vinson, Jr., and wife Carol of Chesapeake, Virginia; his nephew, Brent P. Vinson; a great-niece, Sydney Vinson; three great-nephews, Joshua High, Blake Vinson, and Brady Vinson; and a special family friend, Jerri Lynn Askew.

The family is grateful for the excellent care and support of Dr. Charles Sawyer and Jackie Ashley and the Vidant Hospice and Health team.
