LASKER – Mr. Gurney Wilson Braswell, 82 of Lasker, NC passed away on Thursday, March 18, 2021.

He was born in 1938 in Rehoboth, NC to the late, Robert Gurnie and Hattie Mae Duke Braswell.

Mr. Braswell retired from Gay Implement Company in Seaboard, NC and loved spending time with his family; enjoyed sports, gardening, and loved spending time with and playing with his great-grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the Rehoboth United Methodist Church and sang in the church choir, served as a superintendent for over 50 years and also sung in the Northampton County Men’s Choir.

He is survived by his wife, of 62 years Becky Brown Braswell; his daughters, Melinda Braswell Flythe and her husband, Blake of Milwaukee, NC, and Cynthia Braswell Houston and her husband David of Matthews, NC; his grandchildren, Ashley Flythe DeLoatch and her husband John, Camren Flythe DeLoatch and her husband, Dustin, Taylor Ann Houston, and Clay Braswell Houston; and his great grandchildren, Dawson Phillip DeLoatch, Raegan Blake DeLoatch and Colton Wilson DeLoatch.

Funeral Services will be held on Sunday, March 21, 2021 at 2 p.m. at Rehoboth United Methodist Church with Randy Crowder officiating.

Interment will follow in Jackson Cemetery, NC.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-6:30 p.m. at the funeral home in Jackson, NC.
