AHOSKIE – Kathelleen “Kathy” Monterrosa Parker Belangia, age 73, of Hwy 561 East, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at the Accordius Health at Creekside Care of Ahoskie, NC.
Mrs. Belangia was born on July 16, 1947 to John Nathan and Delores White Parker in Norfolk, VA. She was affectionately known as “Grandma Sunshine” to her family that she cherished. She loved her family greatly especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kathy enjoyed taking care of people as an LPN, doing arts and crafts, drinking coffee, fishing, playing games on the computer, video chatting with her daughter, riding around in the canary yellow Gran Torino, and spending time with her dog Tootsie. She was a Godly woman that enjoyed listening to Christian music, reading Billy Graham books, and most importantly, her Bible, the King James Version. Kathy was loved by many and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis Stanley.
Kathy is survived by her loving husband, Fred; two sons, Donald Kirkland of Ahoskie, and Kevin Kirkland and girlfriend, Nancy Futrell of Murfreesboro; two daughters, Ilene Kirkland and fiancé Ronny Rodriquez of Mesa, AR, and Tania Ezell and husband Freddie of Windsor; five granddaughters, Courtney Zeak and husband Mike of Altoona, PA, Kimberly Kirkland of Ahoskie, Sierra Kirkland of Wilmington, Angel Kirkland and fiancé Timothy Banty of Roanoke Rapids, and Angela Stanley of Ahoskie; six grandsons, Jay Le’ Ledford and wife Tiffany of Windsor, Samuel Matthew Bembridge and wife Alyssa of Windsor, Brandon Kirkland of Wilmington, Aaron Branco and wife Katie of Lapeer, MI, A J Kirkland of Wilmington, and Timothy Branco of Lapeer, MI; twelve great-grandchildren; Charlee, Kylie, Alexis, Carson, Myah, Isabella, McKenize, Lenox, Peyton, Jeslyn, Addison, and Serena; sister, Rickie Longbreak and husband Richard of Boise, ID; brother, Donald Parker of TX; two special caregivers, Nora Collins, and Debbie Hall.
A private celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date.
