AHOSKIE – Larry Herman Hoggard, 70, of Highway 561 East, passed away on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at the Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Mr. Hoggard was born on March 20, 1950 to Herman Barnes Hoggard and Mamie Ruth White in Bertie County, NC. Larry worked for Freeman Metal Products serving the company in many capacities, then later retiring in 2011 from Matthews. He was a devoted member of Hickory Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church, serving the Lord in many ways. He sang in the choir, served as a trustee, and an usher, just to name a few. He enjoyed playing golf, hunting, fishing, and most of all playing with his grandchildren, which were the apples of his eye. Larry loved his family dearly and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

Along with his parents, Larry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Gurley and Lenora White.

Left to cherish Larry’s memory is his loving wife, Phyllis; son, Chad Hoggard and wife Suzanna of Murfreesboro; daughter, Michelle Lee Hoggard Hite and husband Ronald Hite, III of Ahoskie; two granddaughters, Hope Hoggard of Murfreesboro, Madeline Hite of Ahoskie; five sisters, Geraldine Harrell of Windsor, Kathy Fields and husband Michael of Windsor, Donna Diaz and husband Juan of Dover, DE, Jo Ann Hoggard of Alexandria, VA, and Tammy Murwin of Winton; two brothers, Clayton Murwin and wife Colette of Jacksonville, FL, and Billy Murwin of Snugg Harbor, NC; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 19, 2021, at 2 p.m. with the family receiving friends 1 hour prior at 1 p.m. at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Jim Skipper officiating. Burial will follow at Ahoskie Cemetery.
