GARNER, NC – Wayne B. Lewter Sr., 81 of Garner, NC, passed away at his home, surrounded by family, on October 27, 2020. Mr. Lewter also had a home in Potecasi, NC.

Wayne was born in Roanoke Rapids and moved to Potecasi as a young boy. He graduated from Woodland Olney School in 1957, and attended East Carolina College, and King’s Business College.

Wayne was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Mary Beale Lewter of Potecasi; and also by a brother, Donald Ray Lewter.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 61 years, Diane of the home. He is also survived by two sons, Wayne Lewter Jr. of Cary, and Steve Lewter and wife Brenda, and his two beloved grandsons, Parker and Dylan, all of Clayton. Wayne also leaves a sister, Libbie Lewter Wilton and her husband Charles of Newport, and several beloved nieces and nephews.

Wayne retired after 43 years from ConAgra, which at first was known as Jesse Jones Sausage Company. He was an avid sportsman, and especially loved deer hunting, as well as elk, bear and moose hunting. After his retirement, he spent much of his time at his beloved home and farmland at Potecasi.

The funeral service was at Garner First Baptist Church, which he had been a member for 60 years. Burial was at Montlawn Cemetery, Raleigh, NC.
