ENFIELD – A six-year-old from Murfreesboro tragically lost their life in a Nov. 30 motor vehicle accident near here that also killed the driver and injured several others.

Sgt. A.S. Genao of the North Carolina State Highway Patrol identified the deceased victims as Jahan Futrell Jr. and the driver, 28-year-old Tyesha Monique Brinkley of Enfield.

Genao said Brinkley was pronounced dead at the scene while Futrell passed away after being taken to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Surviving the crash were 20-year-old Stacey Futrell of Murfreesboro, Ayden and Kayden Futrell, both age 7 of Enfield, and six-month-old Delana Ingram of Enfield. Their medical conditions are unknown.

Genao said the driver and all passengers were unrestrained and thrown from the vehicle.

According to the accident report, Genao said Brinkley was operating a 2010 Chevrolet passenger car, shortly after 8 pm, northbound on SR 1206 (Beaverdam Road; near its intersection with NC 561) approximately six miles northwest of Enfield.

The vehicle apparently crossed the centerline and traveled off the roadway of the southbound lane where it initially impacted a ditch prior to colliding with an embankment, which caused the car to overturn several times.

Genao said it is unknown if alcohol was a contributing factor to the fatal accident, adding that results are pending from a toxicology report as well as the medical examiner’s report.
