SEABOARD – Paula Jean Davis Barrett of Seaboard wanted nothing more than to raise a family filled with love and to live her life serving God. Extraordinarily successful at both, she went home to be with her Savior Monday morning.
Paula is survived by Bennie, her loving husband of more than 50 years. They married while she was in high school, and they went on to have three children whom she showered with love and pride. Paula is survived by those children and their spouses: Teresa Schray and husband Kurt of Cape Carteret, N.C., Wes Barrett and wife Maggie of New York, N.Y., and Emily Isaacs and husband Greg of Nashville, Tenn.
Each of Paula’s children have a child of their own: Macie Mason, Carter Barrett and Lydia Isaacs. She is also survived by two brothers: Thomas Davis of Gainesville, Fla. and Richard Davis of Little Rock, Ark.
Paula could often be found sitting on a piano bench. Whether she was playing at church on Sunday mornings, or filling her home with music and joy, the piano was the soundtrack of her life.
Paula and Bennie’s shared love of music was but one aspect of their partnership. She stood by his side, supporting the family through all the ups and downs of farm life before serving her community for more than 25 years at the Northampton County Farm Service Agency.
A graveside service for family and close friends will be held on Saturday morning at 11 o’clock at the Barrett family farm in Galatia with Pastor Willie McLawhorn officiating.
The family will receive friends after the service and respectfully requests those attending to practice social distancing and to wear a face covering.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Conway Baptist Church Music Ministry.
