WINDSOR – Martha Frances Carter, 53, of Windsor, NC, passed away on October 8, 2020 at Vidant Medical Center following a prolonged illness. She was surrounded by loved ones when she peacefully passed away.

Martha was born on August 30th, 1967 to Hobson D. “Junior” Carter and Mary Frances Mulder Carter in Windsor, NC. After graduating from Bertie High School in 1985, Martha remained in her hometown, which she loved so dearly. Martha dedicated her life to happily serving her community in many ways. She was a beloved nanny and God Mother, a volunteer and employee at the Windsor/ Bertie County Chamber of Commerce, and a volunteer, CNA 1, and CNA 2 at both Bertie Memorial Hospital and Bertie Vidant Hospital.

Martha was predeceased by her parents. She leaves behind two Godchildren, Brittany W. McClenney (Holden) of Winterville and Heather Whitehurst (Zack Gibbs) of Bear Grass; one great-Godchild, Rhett McClenney of Winterville; and her close friend Susan Whitehurst (Rudy) of Windsor. Martha touched the lives of many who will miss and lovingly remember her.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Walker’s Funeral Home in Windsor. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the Walker Funeral Home chapel. She will be laid to rest at Woodland Cemetery in Woodland, NC.
