MURFREESBORO – The Murfreesboro Police Department is still investigating after a man was shot here early Friday, Sept. 25.

MPD Chief David Griffith reported they received a call at 6:03 a.m. that someone had been shot on Storey Road. The victim, a 22-year-old Black male, was struck in the shoulder, but was treated at the hospital and is expected to recover.

According to the police report, the victim was riding with a friend when they noticed a dark colored car following them on Spring Avenue. When the victim arrived home, “he saw the rear passenger side window roll down, and a passenger pointed a weapon in his direction and fired five or six shots,” Griffith said.

The police chief did not announce any suspects yet in the case, but he urged anyone with information to contact the police department at 252-398-4151.

Griffith also noted the recent gun violence in other parts of the county, including Ahoskie and Winton, and reminded citizens to reach out if they have safety concerns or notice something unusual.
