COLERAIN, NC – Eva Ruth Perry Watford, 76, of Colerain, NC, affectionately called “Sister”, departed this life on Friday, June 12, 2020 at Community Hospice and Hospital in Mt. Joy, PA.
A native of Bertie County, NC, she was born on May 18, 1944 to the late George Perry and Dorothy White Perry Wynn. Eva was a member of New Holley Grove Baptist Church until her health failed.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Rev. George “Brother” Perry; and her husband, Lonnie Ray Watford.
She leaves to cherish her memories, two sons, Lonnie “Jim” Watford (Patricia) of St. Clair, PA and Douglas “Doug” Watford (Nadine) of Manheim, PA; three brothers, Kenneth, Reginald and Nathan, all of New York; two sisters, Cynthia and Celeste, both of New York; one sister in law, Margarett Jean Perry of Baltimore, MD; one grandchild; three great-grandchildren; two adopted grandchildren; one aunt, Lillie “Lenora” White of Powellsville, NC; two nieces, one god-daughter, Tomecka C. Askew of Ahoskie, NC; and a host of cousins, in-laws, other relatives and friends.
Memorial graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 20, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Hunter’s Funeral Home in Ahoskie is handling the arrangements.
