WINDSOR – A party to celebrate high school graduation turned deadly near here Saturday evening.

Jamie White, 26, was gunned down in the yard of a residence located on US 13/17 south of Windsor.

Bertie County Sheriff John Holley said the shooting occurred at a party that was conducted in celebration of the high school’s graduation ceremony held earlier on Saturday.

A fight broke out at the party, which apparently led to gunshots fired at around 8 p.m.

Sheriff Holley said investigators with his office are working with the North Carolina SBI to develop leads in an effort to identify anyone involved with the shooting as well as the fight.

Those with information to share are encouraged to contact the Bertie County Sheriff’s Office at 252-794-5330.
