MURFREESBORO, NC – Evangeline Joyner Hicks, 83, of Murfreesboro, NC departed this life on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Rich Square Health Care Nursing Home in Rich Square, NC.

A native of Hertford County NC, she was born on May 12, 1937 to the late Burgywn Joyner and Mammie Manley Joyner Flood. She was a seamstress.

She leaves to cherish her memories, one daughter, Cynthia Hill (Joseph) of Murfreesboro, NC; two sons, Jerome Hicks of Como, NC and Franchot Hicks (Keisha) of Goldsboro, NC; a daughter-in-law, Geraldine Hicks; a brother, Raymond Joyner (Dorothy Mae) of Rich Square, NC; a sister, Algray Scott of Woodland, NC; three grandchildren; one great grandchild; an aunt, Thelma Bradley; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2-7 p.m. on Friday, May 22 at Hunter’s Funeral Home, Ahoskie.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at Carver Park Cemetery, Murfreesboro.
