Driver dies Friday morning in NC 11 accident

LEWISTON-WOODVILLE – An Edgecombe County man was killed near here Friday morning in a single-vehicle accident on NC 11.

Keimel Hussey, age 22 of Princeville, was the victim, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol’s Troop A / District II office in Ahoskie.

The NCHP report showed that Hussey was operating a 2003 Honda passenger car southbound on NC 11 shortly before 7 a.m.

Approximately two miles south of Lewiston-Woodville, Hussey’s vehicle crossed the centerline, traveled off the road to the left, struck a ditch, and overturned.

The Highway Patrol reported that Hussey was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He died at the scene.

The fatality was the fifth of the year in the Troop A / District II area and the first of 2020 in Bertie County.

The NCHP said none of those five victims were buckled up and stressed the importance of wearing seat belts.
