MERRY HILL / MT. GOULD – Carroll Merton Britt, age 83 of Mt. Gould died at Vidant Memorial Hospital in Greenville, NC on April 30, 2020 surrounded by his family.

He was born on January 23, 1937 in Bertie County to the late Merton Wingate Britt and Sadie Harrell Britt. He had a deceased brother, Kenneth W. Britt.

Carroll graduated from Colerain High School and East Carolina University with a degree in business. He was an Army Veteran serving in the Korean Conflict. He spent most of his life in the marine industry, including 35 years with Hatteras Yacht and 16 years with Piedmont Plastic Marine Division. He was a member of Riverside Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and various other committees.

He was a past member of the Bertie County Board of Elections, a member of Davie Masonic Lodge AF and AM #39 in Ahoskie where he was past Master for several years and also Charity Masonic Lodge #5 in Windsor where he served as secretary.

He was married in 1960 to his childhood sweetheart, Judith Norvelle Britt and is survived by his wife Judy; sons, William C. Britt of Jacksonville, FL, and Michael W. Britt and wife, Sue of Climax, NC; daughter, Janet Britt Siplon and husband, Page, of Cumming, GA; and grandchildren, Patrick Britt, Ashley Britt, Jordan Britt, Kristin Wolfe and husband, Ryan, Thomas Siplon and Lillian Siplon.

Services will be held at Riverside Baptist Church with a Masonic graveside service on May 9, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Dr. Gene Martin officiating.
