COLERAIN, NC – Alonzo “Boney” F. Pierce, Sr., 94, of Colerain, NC died Friday, April 24, 2020 at his home.
He was born in Bertie County on May 29, 1925 to the late John William and Clara Taylor Pierce and predeceased by his wife, Ercel Dunning Pierce; sisters, Fannie Sue Baker and Fentress Mitchell; and brothers Herbert and Aubrey Pierce.
Boney was a farmer all his life. He served during World War II in the US Army and was a member of the American Legion. He attended Perrytown Assembly of God Church.
A graveside funeral service will be held Tuesday, April 28, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery, Colerain. Rev. McCray Dove will officiate. The family will receive friends following the service.
Survivors include he son, Alonzo “Al” F. Pierce, Jr. and his wife Billie Martin Pierce of Greensboro; sister, Mildred White of Colerain; grandchildren, Robin Pierce of London, England and Lonny Pierce of Raleigh; and great grandson, Leo Price.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Perrytown Assembly of God, 928 Perrytown Road, Colerain, NC 27924.
