AULANDER, NC – Betty Rawls Lassiter, age 86, of Millennium, passed away on Thursday, April 2, 2020 at Gates House Assisted Living of Gatesville, NC.

She was born on January 4, 1934 to Lannie Henry and Minnie Minton Rawls in Hertford County, NC. Betty was a devoted member of Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church. She enjoyed her time as a nurse’s aide for several years and the friends she made working at the Pizza Inn. She also liked cooking, quilting, trips to the beach, working in her flower beds, gardening, and spending time with her family. Betty babysat the local community children for numerous years. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Sam Harrell Lassiter; her sister, Geraldine Rawls Barmer; and her brother, Worley Rawls.

Betty is survived by her daughter, Jewell Lassiter Jilcott and husband Steven of Eure; her son, Samuel L. Lassiter and wife Tammy of Aulander; two grandsons, Steven Jilcott, Jr. and wife Bethany of Foxboro, MA, and Bryan Jilcott of Weaverville; two granddaughters, Lane Rice and husband Aaron of Rome, GA, and Carol Lassiter and husband Richard Cary of Roanoke, VA; great-granddaughter, Kati Fletcher Rice; and great grandson, Henry Rice.

Due to the circumstances, the funeral home will be open for friends to view and sign the register book on Saturday, April 4, 2020, from noon until 5:00 p.m. with a limit of no more than 10 people at a time.

A private graveside service will be held at Job Cemetery, Aulander, NC with Rev. Taylor Latham officiating, and there will be a celebration of life memorial service scheduled at a later time to celebrate Ms. Betty’s life with friends. We will update our website as soon as we set a date and time.
