WINTON – McCarthy Lee Minick Hobbs, 88, of 104 Sea Gull Lane, passed away Monday, February 10, 2020 in her home where she was surrounded by her family.

Mrs. Hobbs was born in Louisa County, VA on December 19, 1931, and was the daughter of the late Purdie Wilmore and Louis McCarthy Johnson Minick. A homemaker, she was a Baptist by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Frances Conway; a sister, Polly Ivey; and by brothers, Johnny, Carl, Spencer and Jimmy Minick.

Surviving are her husband of 40 years, Jerry Howard Hobbs; two daughters, Joan Parker and husband, David, and Jean Nipper and husband, Raymond, all of Winton; three sons, Roland Conway and wife, Sharon, of Pittsburgh, PA, and Michael and Jaime Hobbs, both of Chesapeake, VA; a sister, Frances Frazier of Portsmouth, VA; a brother, Billy Minick of Fairfax, VA; eight grandchildren, Leslie, Lisa, Karen, Chuck, Joe, Michelle, Jaime, and Carson; 14 great-grandchildren, and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville, and will be conducted by Pastor Mike Blowe. A private burial will follow in Albert G. Horton, Jr. Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Suffolk, VA. Friends may join the family for a time of visitation on Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in the funeral home.
