AHOSKIE – Cecil Dunston Bazemore, age 102, passed away on Saturday, January 4, 2020 at his residence.

Mr. Bazemore was born on November 27, 1917 to Frank Bazemore and Maude Cornelia Barnacastle Bazemore in Windsor, NC. Cecil proudly served his Country in the United States Coast Guard during World War II, stationed in Midway and went on to the rescue at Pearl Harbor. He later went on to a life of hard work as a mechanic with General Motors. Upon retiring in Ahoskie, he loved going fishing as often as a leaking boat and weather permitted. Cecil loved his family and will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Besides his parents Cecil was preceded in death by his first wife, Arline Kissinger Bazemore; wife, Nancy Fuller Bazemore; sons, William C. Bazemore, and John F. Bazemore; siblings, Major, Eloise, Mable, Lloyd, and Herman.

Cecil is survived by two sons, Douglas J. Bazemore and wife Mary of Churchville, MD, and Kenneth F. Bazemore and wife Wendy of Baltimore, MD; five step-children, Roy W. Fuller and wife, Allison of Leesburg, VA, Norman A. “Tony” Fuller and wife, Barbara of Virginia Beach, VA, and Jerry P. Fuller and wife, Deborah of Youngsville, NC, Judith Fuller Parker and husband, David of Morehead City, NC, Sandra Fuller Barnes and husband, Keith of Raleigh, NC; 10 grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; multiple nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at 2 p.m. at Ahoskie United Methodist Church, Ahoskie, NC. The family will receive friends following the service in the fellowship hall with refreshments. Based on the wishes of Mr. Cecil, he will be buried at Edgewood Cemetery in Windsor, NC next to his mother Maude Bazemore which will be done prior to the memorial service.
