AHOSKIE – Harriet Ann Carter Harris, 82, of 416 N. Mitchell Street, died Friday, December 13, 2019, in Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital.

Mrs. Harris was born in Norfolk, Virginia on April 24, 1937, and was the daughter of the late Marvin Besserick Carter and Lillian Lucille Powell Carter. A Greeter at Walmart of Ahoskie for over 20 years, she was known by the customers and her fellow associates as “Miss Ann”.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd James Harris, Sr.; a sister, Mildred Forbes; a brother, Marvin A. “Sonny” Carter; and by a step-daughter, Linda Gail Johnson.

Surviving are her son, Floyd James “Junior” Harris, Jr. of Ahoskie; a brother, Thomas Carter of Norfolk, VA; a granddaughter, Kara Lynn Harris of Chesapeake, VA; a step-daughter, Brenda Reid of High Point; and several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A graveside service will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in the Ahoskie Cemetery. Friends may join the family Wednesday from 7 to 8 p.m. in Miller Funeral Home, 304 Main Street, Gatesville.
