SUFFOLK, VA – Brayden Alexander Deanes, age 8, died suddenly in the early morning hours, on Saturday, December 7, 2019 in a tragic accident with his older brother, Dylan Michael Edwards, who also left this earthly life to spend eternity with Jesus as well.

Brayden was born on December 21, 2010 to Kevin Michael Deanes and Misty Jenkins Gibbs in Ahoskie, NC. He was a fun loving, sweet boy that loved his family. He loved the outdoors, enjoyed riding his bike, and playing football. Brayden was extremely smart, making the principal’s list at school. Like his older brother Dylan, he made an impact on many people during his brief time with us. He was an extremely friendly “people person”, having never met a stranger and never at a loss for words during a conversation. Brayden will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Sidney and Mary Jenkins; his aunt, Serafina Ireland; and great grandparents, Eddie Newsome, and Ted and Lessie Deanes.

Left to cherish Brayden’s memory are his mother, Misty Jenkins Gibbs of Engelhard; father, Kevin Deanes and wife Becky of Suffolk, VA.; two brothers, Cameron Deanes of Engelhard, Alden Gibbs of Engelhard; two sisters, Rylee Prescott of Suffolk, and Madelynn Deanes of Suffolk; paternal grandparents, Scarlett Downs of Ahoskie, and Tommy Deanes and wife Gayle Aulander; Tommy and Sue Jewett of Suffolk; and a great grandmother, Geraldine Newsome from Grandy. Also surviving are three aunts, Tina Rawls and husband Robert of Millennium, Jenny Massey and husband Brian of Conway, Dedra Warmack and husband Joe of Rich Square; six uncles, George Baker and wife Joyce of Woodland, Tim Baker and wife Claudia of Aulander, Sid Jenkins and wife Pam of Ahoskie, Rick Deanes and wife Heather of Winterville, Kevin and wife Erin Jewett of Portsmouth, and Todd and wife Tiffany Jewett of Suffolk; great aunt, Bettie Ropelewski and husband Mike of Garner; great uncles, Charles Jenkins and wife Maxine of Williamston, and Grady Wheeler and wife Gladys of Goldsboro; along with a host of extended family and friends.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Friday, December 13, 2019, at 11 a.m. at the Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Pastor Greg Hurdle and Pastor Bob Skeens officiating. Burial will follow at Aulander Cemetery, Aulander, NC.
