AHOSKIE, NC – Willie Lee Toliver, Jr., age 81, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at the Hampton V A Hospital.

Mr. Toliver was born in Wisner, LA, on November 3, 1938, a son of the late Willie Lee Toliver, Sr. and Pearlee Harris Toliver. Willie was a retired US Army Sergeant 1C, having served his country for 20 years. After retiring from the military, Willie started his own trucking business, Cajun Trucking.

Besides his parents, Mr. Toliver was preceded in death by a sister, Mattie T. McGee.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife Laverne Hall Toliver, two sons; Travis Toliver of Ahoskie, and Tony Toliver and wife, Kathleen of Columbia, SC; three granddaughters, Brea, Toni, and Shaelyn Toliver; and two grandsons, Prince and Rahsheed Toliver; a niece, Shirley T. Sapp of Monroe, LA, along with a host of friends and acquaintances.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC and other times at the home.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at 11:00 am at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with the Rev. John Porter officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Plains Baptist Church Cemetery, Ahoskie, NC, with military honors.
