AHOSKIE – Geraldine Harrell Tucker, age 94, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Wednesday, October 16, 2019 at the Vidant Edgecombe Hospital in Tarboro, NC.

A native of Northampton County, Geraldine, better known as Tucker, was born on May 10, 1925 to James Edgar Harrell and Ola Mae Bryant Harrell. She was loving, caring, and full of life, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Ahoskie where she served on many committees as long as she was able. Tucker enjoyed her years working with the telephone company. She loved doing all sorts of crafts, especially ceramics, porcelain dolls, and cross stitch. Tucker spent lots of time outdoors cutting grass and working in her yard which she enjoyed very much. Tucker, the “Brownie Lady” to many, always took a fresh batch of brownies to her doctor’s visits and her car mechanic. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Along with her parents, Tucker was preceded in death by her loving husband, Herbert Tucker, sisters, Wilma Evans and Agnes Boyce, and brothers, Milton and Harlee Harrell.

Left to cherish Tucker’s memory are her two daughters, Diane Ackermann and husband Jim of Hertford, NC, and Brenda Knight of Raleigh, NC; and son, Larry Knight and wife Jean of Fayetteville, NC; one grandchild, one step-grandchild, one great grandchild; and two step-great grandchildren.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2019, at 2:30 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Ahoskie with Rev. Dr. Trey Gilliam and Rev. Dr. Jesse J. Croom, officiating. A reception and viewing will follow the memorial service in the church fellowship hall. A private family burial will be in Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Rich Square, NC.
