AHOSKIE – Josephene Hewitt Boone, age 100, passed peacefully on October 9, 2019 at Accordius Health at Creekside Care of Ahoskie.

Mrs. Boone was born in Bertie County, on June 23, 1919, the oldest child and only daughter of the late William Joseph and Bythia Leggett Hewitt. Josephene was a homemaker known for her immaculate home, her brownie pies, and the best sweet tea. She loved working in her home and yard, but her greatest joy was caring for her family. Jospehene loved sports, and in her later years, was always ready to hear the stories of her great grandchildren’s games.

Besides her parents, Josephene was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Boyce Boone, and brothers, William Hewitt, John Hewitt, and George Hewitt.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Linda B. Mizelle; and her son, William Lewis Boone of Ahoskie, NC; two granddaughters, Katherine B. Evans of Ahoskie, NC, and Lisa M. Barkley and husband, Jody of Winton, NC; two grandsons, W. John Boone and wife, Kelly of Cary, NC, and Billy Mizelle and wife, Mikki of Harrellsville, NC; six great grandchildren; and a brother, Raymond Hewitt of Ahoskie, NC.

A celebration of life graveside memorial service was held on Friday, October 11, 2019 at the Ahoskie Cemetery, Ahoskie, NC.

The family would like to thank the nurses, CNA’s, and staff of Accordius for their loving care of Mrs. Boone during her final years.
