ROXOBEL – Geraldine Walters Perkins, age 73, passed away on Wednesday evening, September 18, 2019 at the Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital in Ahoskie, NC.

Mrs. Perkins was born on April 28, 1946, one of eight children born to George and Ruth Evans Walters in Scotland County, North Carolina. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. Geraldine cherished her job as a babysitter, nurturing and caring for so many children. She was an avid sports fan, from Tarheel basketball to Panthers football, any team from North Carolina and Chase Elliott was her favorite driver in NASCAR racing. She was a devoted member of Ebenezer Assembly of God Church. Some of her favorite pastimes were tending her flowers and watching the butterflies, along with sewing. Geraldine was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Along with her parents, Geraldine was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Donald Perkins; brothers, Joe, Jimmy, Billy Ray, and Ricky Wayne Walters; and sister, Ema Lee “Sissy” Walters.

Left to cherish Geraldine’s memory is her son, Kip Perkins of Reidsville, NC; two daughters, Donna Dawson of Windsor, NC, and Melinda White and husband Chuck of Lewiston, NC; two grandsons, Chaise Perkins of Elizabeth City, NC, and Hunter White of Lewiston; five granddaughters, Bayley, Emiley, and Carley Beth Dawson, all of Windsor, and Hannah and Camryn White, both of Lewiston; two sisters, Shelby Wooten of Laurinburg, NC, and Betty Price of Ahoskie, NC; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Reverend Tim Parker officiating. Burial will follow at Hoggard Memorial Cemetery in Lewiston, NC.
