COMO – Calvin Attwood New, age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 23, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by his family.

Mr. New was born on May 7, 1924 to Andrew Jackson New and Ella Parsons New in Charles City County, VA. Calvin was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, great great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He loved spending time with his family. Calvin was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and his work on tugboats. He will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Martha Dixon New; and daughters, Anna Lee New and Rose Fowler; and granddaughter, Rose Ann Fowler.

Calvin is survived by his son, John Andrew New and wife Rita of Lasker; three daughters, Janet Davis of Como, Brenda Hedgepeth and husband Calvin of Ahoskie, and Carolyn Pierce and husband Lonnie of Ahoskie; son-in-law, Tommy Fowler of Como; along with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life graveside service was held on Tuesday, August 27, 2019 at the Williamsburg Memorial Park, 130 King William Drive, Williamsburg, VA 23188.
