EURE, NC – Doris Phelps Felton Williams “Dot” Evans, 86, of 202 Turner Road, Eure, passed away Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.

Mrs. Evans was born in Bertie County on October 12, 1932, and was the daughter of the late Norman Henderson and Gussie Mae Pierce Phelps. A retired seamstress, she was a member of Eure Christian Church, its Women’s Fellowship, and was an avid quilter.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by husbands, Noah Felton, Robert Williams, and Durwood Evans; a son-in-law, Barney Rountree; a sister, Beulah Holloman; and by three brothers, Harvey, Clarence, and Jay Phelps.

Surviving are her two daughters, Kay Rountree of Gates, and Phyllis Moore (Gene) of Gatesville; a son, Norman Felton (Emy) of Winton; a sister, Lorene Brookshire of Florida; a brother, Frank Phelps of Cofield; four grandchildren, Eric Rountree (Shirley), Kathlyn Rountree, Jessica Felton, and Zach Moore (Julia); five great-grandchildren, Addison, Madison, Liam, Paige, and Bubba; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. Also surviving are the Williams and Evans families.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 24 at 4:00 p.m. in Eure Christian Church, and will be conducted by her pastor, The Rev. Wade Bennett. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may join the family in the church social hall following the services on Saturday, and all other times at the residence.
