Sam H. Lassiter

AULANDER, NC – Sam Harrell Lassiter, age 90, passed away on June 1, 2019 at his residence surrounded by his family.

Mr. Lassiter was born on May 7, 1929 to Emlis Tearthur and Clyde Smith Lassiter in Aulander, NC. Sam proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a Godly man and was a devoted member of the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church where he served as deacon, Sunday school teacher, and secretary treasurer.

Sam was a hard-working dedicated family man that always took care of his family. He was a carpenter by trade and loved farming. He served his community in any way he could. Sam was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend that will be deeply missed by all that knew him.

Besides his parents, Sam was preceded in death by two brothers, Woody and Starkie Lassiter; and six sisters, Texanna Lassiter, Katie Shores, Carrie Lassiter, Rosa Parks, Allie Mae Byrd, and Audrey Copeland.

Sam is survived by his wife, Betty; daughter, Jewell Lassiter Jilcott and husband Steven of Eure, NC; son, Samuel L. Lassiter and wife Tammy of Aulander, NC; two grandsons, Steven Jilcott, Jr. and wife Bethany of Foxboro, Massachusetts, and Bryan Jilcott of Weaverville, NC; two granddaughters, Lane Rice and husband Aaron of Rome, GA, and Carol Lassiter and husband Richard Cary of Roanoke, VA; great-granddaughter, Kati Fletcher Rice; great-grandson, Henry Rice; brother, Jerry Lassiter; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, June 3, 2019 from 7:00 pm until 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at 3:00 pm at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Aulander, NC, with Rev. Taylor Latham officiating. Burial will follow at Job Cemetery, Aulander, NC.
