AHOSKIE – An internet café was robbed at gunpoint here early Wednesday morning.

Ahoskie Police Chief Troy Fitzhugh said four suspects were involved. One was armed with a shotgun. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Fitzhugh said the robbery occurred at 12:15 a.m. at Top Dawgz, located at 2112 US Hwy 13 South. APD Officer Tyler Burden, Captain Michele Garrett, and Lt. Jeremy Roberts responded to the scene.

“From the information we gathered, a female employee of the business and an unarmed male security officer were standing outside at which time they were approached by four suspects wearing dark clothing, possibly gray and black in color,” Fitzhugh said.

“One of the suspects, who was unarmed, forced the female employee inside the business where they took an undisclosed amount of money,” he continued. “Meanwhile, the other three suspects, including the one with a shotgun, waited outside along with the security officer.”

Following the robbery, Fitzhugh said the four suspects fled on foot towards the rear of the business.

K-9 units from the Ahoskie Police and Murfreesboro Police departments were summoned to the scene. Fitzhugh said the dogs briefly followed a trail before it went cold.

He asked those with any information about this robbery, to include those who may have been traveling by the business between midnight and the time of the crime, to contact Lt. Roberts at 252-332-5011.
