WINTON, NC – Shirley Ann Hoggard Stephenson, 67, of 248 Tuscarora Beach Road, Winton, NC, passed away on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 in her home.
Mrs. Stephenson was born in Hertford County on December 26, 1951, and was the daughter of the late Cameron Morrison Hoggard, Sr. and Dora Mae Flanagan Hoggard. Retired from the banking industry, she had worked in the Operations Center of First Union Bank. A faithful member of Winton Baptist Church where she held a number of positions through the years, she also found enjoyment in her yard, tending her flowers, and all things Christmas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death on April 17, 2017 by her husband of nearly 33 years, Anthony E. “Tony” Stephenson; by a brother, Billy Hoggard; by a sister-in-law, Donna Farmer Hoggard; and by her step-mother, Annelore Hoggard.
She is survived by the family she dearly loved, two sisters, Ethel H. Knowles and husband, Richard, of Murfreesboro, and Julia H Jenkins and husband, Luther, of Milwaukee; two brothers, Cameron M. Hoggard, Jr. of Aulander, and Jesse D. Hoggard and wife, Suzie, of Benson; Annelore’s children, Robbie Jordan, Rhonda Braswell, Rita Shaffer, and Rose Jordan; several nieces, nephews, and extended family members; and her two furry girls, Sierra and Sophie.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, February 24 at 2:00 p.m. in Winton Baptist Church and will be conducted by her pastor, the Rev. Derik Davis. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Friends may join the visit with family in the fellowship hall of the church on Saturday from 5 to 7 p.m., and all other times at the residence.
