POTECASI, NC – Robert Kenneth “Ken” McDaniel, 82, of Potecasi, passed away on Tuesday, February 19, 2019 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Ken was born on June 9, 1936 to Lester and Elsie McDaniel in Lawndale, NC. He loved playing the guitar and banjo and loved blue grass music. His favorite past times included hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. Ken attended Grace Baptist Church and loved the Lord and reading his Bible. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Sallie Harmon McDaniel; his son, Keith McDaniel; and his brothers, Jerry McDaniel, Pete McDaniel, Johnny McDaniel, Byrd McDaniel, and Barney McDaniel.

Ken is survived by his three daughters, Christie McDaniel Morris and husband Johnathan of Lasker, NC, Peggy McDaniel Bolton and husband Butch of Gastonia, NC, and Mary Ann Chang and husband Henry of Las Vegas, NV; his two sons, Tommy McDaniel and wife Chris of Hertford, NC and Charlie McDaniel and special friend Heather Stokes of Dallas, NC; his daughter-in-law, Wanda McDaniel of Gastonia, NC; and his two brothers, Fred McDaniel of Shelby, NC and Gene McDaniel of Lattimore, NC.

A visitation will be held Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC and other times at the home of his daughter, Christie.

A celebration of life graveside service will be held on Friday, February 22, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Cedar Lawn Cemetery, Rich Square, NC, with the Reverend Doug Spivey officiating.
