Man found shot to death

HARRELLSVILLE – The Hertford County Sheriff’s Office is seeking to learn the identity of an individual found shot to death this morning (Sunday) at the Harrellsville boat landing.

Sheriff Dexter Hayes said the individual was shot one time. He termed the case as a homicide.

Hayes said the unidentified victim was a black male between the ages of 18-to-25.

“His identity is unknown at this point; there was no identification found on his person,” Hayes told the Roanoke-Chowan News-Herald.

The Sheriff encouraged those who have experienced difficulty in contacting a family member or friend over the past 24 hours to contact his office at 252-358-7800 or call the Hertford County E-911 Communications Center at 252-358-0232 and ask to speak to him or HCSO Lt. Tom Helms.
