EURE, NC – Jimmy Otis Pernell, 71, of 1349 NC 137, Eure, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 in Sentara Obici Hospital, Suffolk, VA.

Mr. Pernell was born in Vance County on March 25, 1947, and was the son of the late Marcenas Otis Pernell and Annie Pearl Strum Pernell Jordan. Retired from the sheet finishing department of International Paper in Franklin, VA, he was a member of Cool Spring Baptist Church, the White Oak Hunt Club, and the Ray’s Beach Fishing Club. He had served in the NC National Guard.

Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Lessie Horton Pernell; his daughter, Wendy Dawn Pernell of Eure; his sister, Linda Lassiter of Ahoskie; and other extended family members. Also surviving are the many friends he made through the years of operating Ham Radio, his call number being KG4ODW.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, December 13 at 2:00 p.m. in Cool Spring Baptist Church Cemetery and will be conducted by the Rev. Dr. Wayne Proctor and the Rev. Joe McKnight.
