Glenn Askew

AULANDER, NC – Earl Glenn Askew, 99, of 238 Horton’s Church Road, Aulander, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 in his home.

Mr. Askew was born in Hertford County on July 7, 1919, and was the son of the late William David and Rhennie Early Askew. A retired farmer, he managed the Gulf Service Center in Aulander for 20 years, and was a member and former Chairman of the Board of Deacons of Aulander Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Wilhelmine Brantley Askew; two sisters, Sally Todd and Mary Louise Thomas; his brother, Broughton Askew; a niece, Frances Farless; and a nephew, Billy Askew.

Surviving are his daughter, Sharon Parrish Vick and husband, Tony, of Lumberton; a niece, Betty Jane Tharrington of Nashville; four nephews, Freddy Todd of Merry Hill, Gene Todd of Scotland Neck, and John J. Thomas and David Thomas, both of Baltimore, MD; two grandchildren, Ryan Vick and wife, Julie, and Crystal Rose and husband, Mike; and two great-grandsons, Noah and Camden Vick.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 15 at 2:00 p.m. in the Aulander Baptist Church and will be conducted by the Rev. Robbie Parker. Burial will follow in the Aulander Cemetery.

Friends may join the family in the church for a time of visitation beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, and all other times at the residence.
