Samuel W. Worthington III

WINDSOR, NC – A North Carolina light has gone out. Samuel Wheeler “Bo” Worthington, III, beloved husband, brother and uncle of Windsor NC passed away on Tuesday, December 4, 2018 surrounded by family and friends.

Bo was born August 4, 1957, the son of the late Samuel S. Worthington, Jr. and Mary Pegram Worthington. He grew up farming the family lands in Bertie County and watching the waves along the Outer Banks. He attended N.C. State University and was a member of St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Windsor, N.C.

Bo was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bill Humphrey.

Left to cherish Bo’s memory are his wife and soulmate, Janet Staples Worthington of Windsor, NC; a brother, James Humphrey; two sisters, Margaret P. Worthington and Mary George Sullivan; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 8, 2018 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, located at 302 S. Queen Street in Windsor, N.C.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Salvation Army, the American Red Cross, the Outer Banks Chapter of the Surfrider Foundation (https://outerbanks.surfrider.org), or the charity of your choice.
