MURFREESBORO, NC – Ernest Rudolph “Rudy” Edwards, Jr., age 76, passed away on November 14, 2018 at Vidant Roanoke-Chowan Hospital of Ahoskie, NC.

Mr. Edwards was born in Newport News, VA, on February 18, 1942, a son of the late Ernest and Marie Richardson Edwards. “Rudy” worked as a Machine Tender for Union Camp in Franklin, VA. He was a skilled woodworker and lover of the outdoors. He loved hunting and going to the beach to fish and watch the boats come in at Oregon Inlet. Rudy enjoyed many things, but most of all he loved his family and enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren. He was a loving, giving man and will be missed by all who knew him.

Besides his parents, Rudy was preceded in death by his son, Ernest Christopher Edwards.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Rebecca “Becky” Futrell Edwards; a daughter, Gay Whitley and husband, Doug of Murfreesboro, NC; a son, Brian Edwards and wife, Susie of Stoneville, NC; four grandsons, Christopher Quinton Edwards, Ernest Andrew Edwards, and Wallace Whitley of Murfreesboro, NC, and Griffin Edwards of Stoneville, NC; two granddaughters, Mandy Whitley of Raleigh, NC, and Phoebe Edwards of Stoneville, NC; a sister, Patsy Edwards Wiggins of Rocky Mount, NC; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the home at any time.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Sunday, November 18, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Ashley’s Grove Baptist Church, Conway, NC, with Rev. David Ross officiating.
