Barbara H. Perry

AHOSKIE, NC – Barbara Harrell Perry, age 80, passed away on November 11, 2018 at Vidant Medical Center of Greenville, NC.

Mrs. Perry was born on August 19, 1938 to Raleigh C. Harrell and Nettie Raleigh Sumner Harrell in the St. John’s township of Hertford County, NC. Barbara was a member of Center Grove Baptist Church. She retired from working in accounts payable for BASF after many years of dedicated service to them.

Barbara was affectionately known by many as “NANNY”. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren, playing games and reading stories to them. Barbara was a devout member of the Red Hat Society where she spent countless hours fellowshipping with fellow Red Hatters. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, friend and a wonderful aunt to many nieces and nephews. Barbara will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene Perry; three sisters, Patty Evelyn Palma, Mary Lou Harrell, and Linda Martorana; and four brothers, Walter Raleigh Harrell, Adolph Menjue Harrell, Joseph Richard Harrell, and Ralph Dean Harrell.

Barbara is survived by three sons, Michael Perry of Las Vegas, NV, Kevin Perry and wife Robin of Chester, VA, and Robert Perry of Sarasota, FL; seven granddaughters, Stacey Perry of Newport News, VA, Jessica Doherty and husband Joey of Tucson, AR, Kate Wagner of Albuquerque, NM, Kristina Perry of Las Vegas, NV, Emily Perry of Chester, VA, Olivia Perry of Colorado Springs, CO, and Erin Perry of Chester, VA; one grandson, Josh Perry and wife Amanda of Fairfax, VA; three great-grandsons, Aidan, John Britton, and Sebastien; three great-granddaughters, Joana, Jayden, and Jaklyn; and three sisters, Lucy Paul of Sarasota, FL, Faye Askew of Suffolk, VA, and Eleanor Runfola of Tempe, AR.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Ahoskie, NC, with Rev. Daniel Mullens, officiating. The family will visit with friends following the service.
