AULANDER, NC – Emma “Lou” Farmer Cooke Bridgers, age 78, passed away on October 29, 2018 at Vidant Inpatient Hospice of Greenville, NC.

Lou was born on February 17, 1940 to Clinton Hill Farmer, Sr. and Mary Louise Edwards Farmer in Bertie County, NC. Lou worked as a Post Master for many years. She was a dedicated and faithful member of Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church. Lou was a God loving sweet gentle lady that cherished her family dearly. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend that will be deeply missed by all that knew her.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Bill Cooke, and second husband, Whitey Bridgers, along with her brother, C.H. Farmer.

“Lou” is survived by her daughter, Lori Cooke Powell and husband David of Hixson, TN; son, Glenn Cooke and wife Kim of Gates, NC; seven grandchildren, Ben, Jake, Nathan, and Matthew Powell, Mark, Nicholas, and Jason Baines; two sisters, Linda Lassiter and husband Roger, and Lucille Cowan and husband Thomas; three brothers, Kenny Farmer and wife Shelby, Sammy Farmer and wife Annette, and David Farmer and wife Lisa; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The celebration of life service will be held Thursday, November 1, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Millennium Pentecostal Holiness Church, Aulander, NC, with Rev. Taylor Latham officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11:00 am in the church fellowship hall.
