NEW YORK, NY – Jessie Mae Lee Flood was born October 6, 1946 in Hertford County, North Carolina to the late James Whaylon Lee and Blannie Wiggins Lee. She departed her life on October 6, 2018 at Long Island Jewish Hospital, Valley Stream, New York.

Jessie graduated from Robert Lee Vann High School in 1965 and began her career at Sunbeam in Ahoskie, North Carolina. She moved to New York and later enrolled at Manhattan Community College, where she started her nursing career. She obtained a position with Coney Island Hospital as a staff nurse.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margie Lee and Dorothy Mae Lee Johnson; two brothers, James Whaylon Lee, Jr, and Alfred Donnell Lee; and one-sister-in-law, Ida Lee.

She leaves to cherish her memories three brothers, William H. Lee, Clyde “Bob” Lee, and James Earl Grant (Denise), all of Ahoskie, North Carolina; two sisters, Annie Boone-Carroll of Salisbury, NC and Jean L. Lee (Kitchen) of Woodland, NC; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, great-nephews and nieces, and other relatives and friends. She adored Cousin Edward Jenkins and her Beloved God Daughter Sudelia Williams.

Funeral arrangements are Saturday, October 13, 2018, with visitation at 1 p.m. followed by the service at 1:30 p.m. at Zion Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will be in the Ambrose Memorial Cemetery.
