RICH SQUARE, NC – Dorothy Carol Jordan Barnes, age 86, formally of Colerain, passed away on Tuesday, September 11, 2018 at the Rich Square Health Care Center.

Carol was born on December 30, 1931 to George Fred and Maybelle Batson Jordan in Burgaw, NC. She was a member of Colerain Baptist Church. Carol worked as a bookkeeper for Smith Douglas for many years. She loved her cats and will be greatly missed by all that knew her.

Left to cherish Carol’s memory is her caregiver and nephew, Samuel Eugene Jordan of Burgaw, NC, along with several nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayland Sharp Barnes; sister, Olivia Hanchey Lyons; and brothers, Paul Graham Jordan, George Junior Jordan, and Harry Eugene Jordan.

A celebration of life service will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018 at 12:30 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery in Colerain, NC with Rev Gary Saffell officiating.
