Darden M. Askew

EURE, NC – Darden Moran Askew, 88, of 129 White Oak Road, Eure, NC, passed away on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 in his home where he was surrounded by his family.

Mr. Askew was born in Gates County on March 10, 1930, and was the son of the late John Irvin and Nellie Mary Askew. A retired farmer, carpenter, and Perdue Poultry producer, he was a member of Eure Christian Church, the White Oak Hunt Club, and Ray’s Beach Fishing Club.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Frances Askew, and by brothers, Cross, Glenn, and Floyd Askew.

Surviving are his loving wife of 65 years, Lettie Howell Askew; two sons, Steven Askew and wife, Gloria, and Wade Askew and wife, Ann, all of Eure; two sisters, Katie Stallings and husband, Leslie, and Gladys Greene, all of Suffolk, VA; two sisters-in-law, Lillie Rae Askew and Opal Askew, both of Eure; two granddaughters, Melissa White and husband, Paul, and Stephanie Boyce and husband, Wade; four great-grandchildren, Rylan, Lacey, Molly, and Sammy White; two nieces, several nephews, and other extended family members.

Funeral services were held Monday, September 17 in Eure Christian Church, conducted by Pastors Wade Bennett, Wayne Gardner, and Wayne Proctor. A private burial followed in the Howell Family Cemetery near the home. Friends may join the family at the residence.
