Ruby J. Lassiter

RICH SQUARE, NC – Ruby Jean Lassiter, age 69 of Rich Square, was called home to be with her Lord on August 9, 2018. Ruby passed away at the Ahoskie House in Ahoskie.

She was born on February 13, 1949 to James and Lillie Taylor. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend to many. Ruby loved taking care of people and she will surely be missed by all that knew her.

Ruby was known to many as Meme. Ruby loved flowers, cooking and puzzles. She and Glenn owned and operated Ruby’s Restaurant for a number of years. Ruby worked as a personal care aid for Kind Hearts of Rich Square for a number of years until retiring.

She was preceded in death by mother, Lillie Benton Taylor; father, James Taylor; her husband, Leslie Glenn Lassiter; sister, Nannie Miller; and brother, Clarence Dennie Taylor.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Kim Ireland and her fiancée Jim of Conway; son, Troy Holloman and his wife Shawn of Severn; step daughter, Tammie Osborne and her husband Renee of Franklin, TN; step son, Bobby Lassiter and his wife Mamie of Morristown, TN; sister, Elsie Moore of Windsor; brother, James Thomas Taylor and his wife Joyce of Eure; two granddaughters, Anna and Jordan Osborne, both of Franklin, TN; six grandsons, Colin and Matthew Holloman of Greenville, Zach Lassiter of Morristown, TN, Chad Lassiter of Brunswick, GA, Seth Lassiter of Morristown, TN, and Caleb Osborne of Franklin, TN; and two great-granddaughters, Ashlyn and Kailyn Ireland, both of Rocky Mount.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, August 12, 2018 from 7:00-8:30 pm at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service of Rich Square.

Memorial services will be conducted on Monday, August 13, 2018 at 11:00 am at the Chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service with the Rev. Bob Rogers officiating.
