WINTON – Four individuals, to include one incumbent, have filed for the three seats open this year on the Hertford County Board of Elections.

Two weeks ago, incumbent School Board member Shelia Porter had filed, along with newcomers Mitch Kelly and Ray Faircloth Jr.

Kim Saunders made her candidacy known when she filed on July 16.

Two other incumbents – Dennis Deloatch and Dr. Joanne Jones – have yet to file.

The filing fee is $5.

In Hertford County, none of the seats on the Board of Education are confined to districts, meaning all are open for filing on an “at large” basis. The lone restrictions are candidates are required to be residents of Hertford County and at least 21 years of age.

Those wishing to file can do so at the Hertford County Board of Elections Office, located at 700 North King Street in Winton. Office hours are 8:30 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Filing for seats on the local School Board ends on Friday, Aug. 3.
