Mary T. Parker

KELFORD, NC – Mary Tillery Parker, age 99, passed away on July 15, 2018 at the Accordius Health at Creekside Care of Ahoskie, NC.

Mrs. Parker was born in Halifax County on March 12, 1919, a daughter of the late William and Sarah Jernigan Tillery. Mary enjoyed gardening, both flowers and vegetables, and enjoyed canning and freezing what she had grown, and sharing with others. She enjoyed reading as long as her eyesight let her. Mary had retired as a cashier for Cole’s Supermarket in Roxobel, NC.

Besides her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her loving husband, Junious “June Bug” Garris Parker; her brothers, Walter Tillery, Wingate Tillery, and Arthur Tillery; and a sister, Olia Vaughan.

Left to cherish her memory is her daughter, Judy P. Vaughan and husband, Wayne, of Kelford, NC; two granddaughters, Tracey Terry and husband, Phil of Millennium, NC, and Cathy Vaughan of Durham, NC; two great granddaughters, Kelsey Terry of Millennium, NC, and Kimberly Terry of Millennium, NC; and a brother, Edward Tillery of Rockbridge Bath, VA.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 17, 2018, from 1:00 pm until 1:45 pm at Kelford Baptist Church, prior to services.

A celebration of life service will be held on Tuesday, July 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm at the Kelford Baptist Church, Kelford, NC, with Rev. Doug Spivey and Rev. Roy Faison, officiating. Burial will follow in Roxobel-Kelford Cemetery, Roxobel, NC.
