Dick Daughtry Sr.

LASKER, NC – Charles Manness “Dick” Daughtry, Sr. of Lasker, passed away peacefully at his home on June 28, 2018.

Dick was born on January 30, 1938 to John Leonard and Mary Spivey Daughtry in Lasker, NC. He served as Chief of the Lasker Volunteer Fire Department from 1979-1992. Dick helped start and renovate Grace Baptist Church in Rich Square where he served as the choir leader for many years. He owned and operated Lasker Service Center since 1981 where he especially loved to visit with all the students from Northeast Academy and the local farmers. Dick enjoyed farming and restoring old tractors. He will be greatly missed by all that knew him.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father and his four brothers, Gene, Calvin, Bill, and Tom Daughtry.

Dick is survived by his wife Nancy of the home; his son, Charles M. Daughtry, Jr. and his wife Nancy of Lasker, NC; one grandson, Ryan Daughtry of Lasker, NC; three sisters, Virginia Smith and her husband, Linwood, of Lasker, NC, Lucy Browder and her husband Ashby of Edenton, NC, and Mary Jo Bridgers and her husband Willie of Lasker, NC; and two brothers, Wallace Daughtry and his wife Ruth of Woodland, NC and Bennett Daughtry and his wife Jane of Murfreesboro, NC.

The family will receive friends at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square on Saturday, June 30, 2018 from 7:00-8:30 p.m.

A Celebration of Life Funeral Service will be held Sunday, July 1, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service in Rich Square. Burial will follow the service at Lasker Cemetery in Lasker. Rev. Randy Browder and Rev. Ashby Browder will be officiating the service.
