ELIZABETH CITY, NC – Troy Lee Parks, 22, of Elizabeth City, passed away June 5, 2018.

Troy was born on May 10, 1996 to Donald Lee Parks, Jr. and Jennifer Perry Parks and was the big brother of Brenton Perry Parks.

Born and raised in Pasquotank County, Troy was a Weeksville boy through and through. He was a 2014 graduate of Northeastern High School and attended N.C. State University. He was an avid outdoorsman who was passionate about hunting and fishing. Endearingly called the Fish Whisperer, he could often be found wearing his C.A. Perry & Son hat casting lines on the waters that surrounded the community that he loved. Troy had eyes as blue as the Atlantic, and nothing made them sparkle like being on the sea reeling in a feisty cobia. He worked as a first mate on several charter boats based out of the Outer Banks, most recently the Fowl Hooked.

Along with his parents, brother and beloved dog Addie, Troy is survived by his grandparents, Donald and Yvonne Parks of Elizabeth City and Sidney “Bud” and Nancy Perry of Hobbsville; his love, Ashley Cartwright; and his aunts and uncles: Mary Sydney Copeland of Tyner, Corey and Leanne Clayton of Merry Hill, Darren and B.B. Halstead of Edenton, Pam Ward, Wayne and Kim White, and David and Kathy Parks, all of Elizabeth City. Troy is also survived by a large group of first cousins with whom he grew up closely: Ashton Copeland, Parker and Perris Clayton, Davis and Caroline Halstead, Jessica James (husband Eric and children Brenner, Rylan, and Ethan), Stephan and Kaitlyn Ward, Ryan Steeley (fiancé Lindsay and daughter Tinley), Kristin Steeley (daughter Riley), Douglas White (fiancé Taylor), Owen White, and Tucker, Katie, and Logan Parks.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, June 8, 2018 at Newbegun United Methodist Church, conducted by the Reverend Dr. Roger Braun. A burial service will follow at Warwick Baptist Church in Hobbsville, NC with Pastor Kip Vinson officiating.

Friends may join the family at other times at the residence.

Flowers are welcome or contributions can be made to Soul Hunters in Troy’s memory. Attention: Cliff Colson 1297 Newland Road Elizabeth City, NC 27909
