AHOSKIE – Nearly 100 persons took part in the inaugural Ahoskie Community Block Party on Saturday, May 5 at the Atlantic District Fairgrounds on Holloman Avenue. The event was hosted by NCRBGz and designed to promote unity, diversity, camaraderie, encouragement, and hope for the citizens of the town.

“The goal of this event was to strengthen community bonds and to show our community what can be achieved when we come together and stand together,” said organizer Stewart Fields.

The Block Party had something for everyone: food, music, a variety of performers, vendors, motivational speakers, bouncy houses, face painting and much more.

“For the residents of Ahoskie this was a day to enjoy fun family activities and good old fashion fellowship,” Fields continued. “NCRBGz intends to keep motivating,    uplifting and spreading hope throughout our community by providing safe, entertaining and educational resources, workshops and events that will strengthen us and enable us to thrive.

Several Ahoskie businesses contributed to the Block Party, including: Piggy Wiggly, North State, Food Lion, Walmart, Strickland Auto Group, Douglas Construction, Alpha Security, Walgreens, and Ahoskie Food Center.
