ROCKY MOUNT, NC – Dianne Lee Averitt, age 64, passed away on May 10, 2018 at UNC Nash Hospital of Rocky Mount, NC.

Ms. Averitt was born in Roxobel, Bertie County, NC on April 26, 1954, a daughter of the late Clifton and Ernestine White Brant. Dianne worked as a Procurement Buyer for Johnson’s Controls in Tarboro, NC, until her retirement in 2017. She loved riding horses, her dogs, which were her children, and was a confidant to many. Dianne had a contagious smile that made everyone’s day better, and she loved to joke.

Besides her parents, Dianne was preceded in death by her grandmother that raised her, Clara Elizabeth White; two brothers, Gary White, and Julian Jernigan; uncles, James White and Calvin White; and an aunt, Viva Pollard.

Left to cherish her memory is her brother, William Jernigan of Ahoskie, NC; an uncle, Charles White and wife, Charlotte, of Roxobel, NC; two aunts, Virginia Jilcott of Tarboro, NC, and Anna Mae Castagna of Rocky Mount, NC; and numerous nieces nephews and cousins.

A celebration of life memorial service will be held on Monday, May14, 2018 at 7:00 pm at Garrett-Sykes Memorial Chapel of Murfreesboro, NC with Rev. Josh Bowen, officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service on Monday and all other times at the home of Richard and Renee Jilcott.
